Devon
Intro
Welcome to the Devon leg of the Miracle Marathon! I am excited to support Olly on his journey and to show him the beautiful sights of the Exe Estuary during his visit to Devon. Like many who undertake this challenge, my wife and I have faced our own heartbreaking journey. Experiencing not just one, but two miscarriages at around 20 and 23 weeks. Luca and Lelia will forever be our greatest loss. Tommy’s was a tremendous help to me, providing support for my wife and also helping me navigate through an incredibly difficult time. Balancing strength for your loved ones while grieving is an immense weight to carry, but knowing we are part of a community that cares makes all the difference. We are grateful for your support and look forward to sharing this special day together.
The Route
Our run will commence at Exeter Parkrun at 9:00 AM. From there, we will head towards Exeter Quay and follow the Topsham side of the Exe Estuary, passing through scenic views along the way to Darts Farm. At around 10:45, we’ll take a short break before continuing along the estuary to Exmouth, running along the seafront all the way to the RNLI station at around 12:00.
This visit is especially meaningful because the RNLI lifeboat carries the names of Luca and Lelia as part of their launch a memory. It’s comforting to think that, when the crew are saving lives, Luca and Lelia are also helping.
From there, we’ll head back along the seafront to the harbor, and it’s hoped that we’ll cross the estuary by boat to Starcross. The route then takes us past Powderham and Double Locks before finishing at Exeter Quay Beacon around 2:30 PM.
We would love to have as much support as possible along the route, whether you can join us for parts of the run or cheer us on from the sidelines. If you plan to join, please do donate if you can, as every bit helps. It’s still undecided if “Rusty” the robin will be joining us on the day, but stay tuned!
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to sharing this special day with you.
